About Me

I am a traveler, though most of the time I move around a fairly small radius.

At the center is my favorite kitchen window that points toward the Hudson River I love.

Beyond the window, I’ve traveled from parenting to performing, from daydreaming to stargazing, from far away places to my neighborhood streets. Along the way, I've collected stories of love lost and wisdom gained. I find them in words and melodies old and new, in the secret of an old building covered in peeling paint, in the afternoon light casting a shadow on my wall.

Singing has been with me on my travels for as long as I can remember, and more recently, photography has joined me on my journey. I am so grateful to these trusted companions for riding alongside me on my explorations up and down the river, cruising with the current or paddling upstream.

I’ve written a dozen songs in about that many years, both on my own and with some of my favorite people. But it is the singing and sharing of songs I love that stir my soul most. It has been such a joy to sing the colors of so many different musical landscapes, from the rich hues of early choral music to the warmth of the jazz standards and the cool blues of the magical Joni Mitchell. All of it has been a gift.

Taking pictures in solitude has become a daily practice and source of great entertainment.  Over this past year I have gravitated towards abstract photography where there are few boundaries. I get such a kick out of noticing something, examining it, capturing a part of it, and then reshaping the image through editing. There is beauty that shouts from the tree tops and beauty that has to be uncovered. Using my phone to reveal what is hidden in plain sight right outside my door feels like a discovery each and every time.

If I were all alone on a little grassy isle in the middle of the river, I would still delight in singing to the reeds, taking pictures of the driftwood and debris and maybe even mining the metaphor and listening to the wind for a new tune. A visit from you and the communion that comes from sharing art adds to the treasures found on this journey.

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
